Students at Dover Montessori recently journeyed to Dairy Queen to see what happens behind the scenes at this favorite childhood eatery. They didn’t just go on a trip for ice cream – they also gained hands on knowledge of food preparation, a tour of the establishment and experienced the work that goes into creating the tasty treats, by choosing and making their own ice cream cones complete with each child’s choice of toppings.
Hands on learning is a hallmark of the Montessori Method, and something we try to incorporate into our curriculum at every opportunity. It also happens to be a lot of fun! See an excerpt of our front page Dover Post article below, and be sure to click the link for more info and a video.
“The reward of ice cream at the end of the trip rewarded the children for their good behavior and taught that hard work truly does pay off.”
