Welcome Back! Sept Newsletter

Dear Parents:

Hooray for the First Day! Welcome to all parents and students to the 2016-2017 school year here at Dover Montessori Country Day Academy. We are stonger together and are excited to work with all of our students this year. Remember, parent involvement is a predictor of student success!

“Let’s Get Acquainted” You are invited to our house held at Dover Montessori on Thursday, September 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is a covered dish dinner. Our new Team Leader MaryEllen will be introduced and is excited to meet with all of the parents. She will be looking for volunteers interested in sharing their time and talents with our children. Every parent please bring a main dish enough for 8 to 12 people. Call the school for suggestions. Children and families are all welcome! Children will not attend future meetings.

Student Records – Please help us maintain accurate records at school. Please review all paperwork, physical forms, volunteer forms etc. and turn in no later than Thursday September 29th. Can be handed in at the parent meeting.

“Granny Franny” will be here Tuesdays from 11-12 to share musical activities. Music will include singing, circle games, story songs, simple rhythms, rhythm instruments, and musical movement. We will even make some musical instruments to take home. Along with reading to your children, be sure to sing to them, too. Remember – everyone is a music-maker!

Weekly Specials: Monday & Thursday – Computers; Tuesday – Music; Wednesday – Chinese; Friday is an optional day, reserved for Guest Speakers and/or parents volunteering their time. Parents will be informed of any schedule changes.

September is Recycling Month! – Please bring small craft items. Our class will be practicing recycling. Each child will need an empty plastic 12 oz. water bottle with lid. Please write your child’s name on the bottle.
  We will be exploring:
    1. What does nature recycle?
    2. How much plastic do we use and how much do we discard?
    3. Water – Our most important natural resource.
    Featured Guest Speaker: State Dept. DNREC

Please review “What to Bring?” on backside. 2 Bottles of Juicy Juice (or Apple Juice) are to be brought in each month. Check with the front desk at sign in each time you bring in 2 cans. Juice should be brought in the first week of each month. Parents are welcome to contribute snacks anytime. Thanks! Our school policy is to not include sugary snacks in lunches. Please provide healthy snacks and no-sugar added juices in leu of candy, sweets or colored, sugary drinks. All lunches should have juice provided.

 Computer payments ($26.00) are due at the first of each month with tuition. If payments are received after the 10th there will be a late fee! Tuition payments are due on Monday and are late by Tuesday.

Weekly reports will be given out each Friday at the closing of the day in the parent inbox. Daily reports are provided for the young children in Ms. Jess’s class. Three day/Half day parents need to request their report the day their child leaves the center.

Notes: Be sure to provide a light jacket or sweater and a change of clothes. Please put names on all items!
Parents please remember Pictures – Family photos (no larger than 4×6), We are doing a class project “Family Tree!” for our classroom collection. Photos should be brought in by Friday, Sept. 23rd, as this is a September project. You may see your family photo on our website!!
T-Shirts! One orange school t-shirt is provided each student. Extra shirts are available for $7 each! Sizes available 4, 5/6, 7
